History and Education
Robert McNeil Jr was born on the south side of Chicago, where gang fighting and civil racial violations were prevalent. Numerous of his peers succumbed to this lifestyle and battled to escape its effect. McNeil was fortunate to have parents that emphasized education and religion, providing him with a strong moral foundation that enabled him to reject these negative influences and develop into a strong individual with moral convictions.
After going to Atlanta, Georgia, to attend a Catholic high school preparatory program, McNeil established a modest lawn care service. At age 12, he was learning the significance of self-sufficiency as well as the value of community involvement. While at Georgia Tech, McNeil launched a second company from his dorm room, eventually employing over 50 people to serve various national clients. This business gave him marketing skills in the real world and helped him transition from learning to applying these concepts. Robert graduated from the Executive MBA program at Georgia State University and the National Minority Development Council Advanced Management Program at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. His Advanced MBE from the Tuck School of Business gave him the theoretical and educational foundation for his career.
This experience has enabled McNeil to grow his portfolio and consistently contribute to his community. For instance, he has been called to speak at various institutions and has developed an internship program to connect minority college students to real-world chances in the advertising profession. This initiative has helped numerous African-American, and Hispanic youth find employment opportunities to which they would not have otherwise been exposed.
